NORTH SHORE ANIMAL LEAGUE AMERICA OFFICIALLY OPENS THE DOORS TO BIANCA’S FURRY FRIENDS (BFF) FELINE ADOPTION CENTER
State-Of-The-Art, 14,000 Square Foot, Second-Floor Addition To Original Structure, Where Canines Remain On the First Floor, Is Now Open To The Public And Filled With Adoptable Animals
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
(Port Washington, New York)
North Shore Animal League America’s Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center is now filled with adorable, adoptable animals and officially open to the animal-loving public. Beginning on Thursday, November 21, the new 14,000 square foot addition, atop the original adoption center, will be housing adoptable felines while the original main level will feature adoptable canines.
A six-year dream-in-the-making, BFF is the shared vision of North Shore Animal League America’s foster parent, spokesperson, and Board Member Beth Stern and NSALA Senior Vice President of Operations, Joanne Yohannan. Stern and Yohannan envisioned a state-of-the-art, cage-free, feline environment designed to maximize the care given to cats and kittens while in the organization’s care while allowing more room for adoptable canines.
The much-anticipated Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center (named in memory of Beth and Howard Stern’s beloved English Bulldog) features 14,000 square feet of cage-free space featuring perches, large windows to allow natural sunlight, quiet nooks, and large viewing windows through which visitors can watch cats play, nap, and interact. Highlights include the Billy Joel Rooms, The Rachael Ray Room, The Hallmark Adoption-Ever-After Room, The Julia Belle Mason Room, and the Alex & Elisabeth Lewyt Family Nursery. This ideal environment enables maximum socialization, reduces depression and aggression caused by living in cages and/or in proximity to dogs, and helps cats feel calmer and more confident thus shortening their stay in the facility and improving the matchmaking experience for felines and their adopters.
The main floor has also been enhanced with an interactive Puppy Playground. New runs for the puppy room have been ordered and new kennel enclosures for the older dogs will be installed to create a more homelike environment. Improvements and upgrades to the areas home to the dogs and puppies awaiting adoption will be ongoing throughout 2020.
North Shore Animal League America will be open for adoptions Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays beginning Thursday, November 21. For more information, please visit our website: dev2.animalleague.org.
