Ending the Year Saving and Changing Lives

As many are looking forward to the end of a year that has seen unprecedented loss, we at North Shore Animal League America are committed to our no-kill mission. For the month of December we expect to bring in almost 300 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. In a year where we have had to scale back our rescue missions due to the ongoing global pandemic, we did not stop our lifesaving work and continued to do all we could to save more animals.

Our latest arrival of 18 dogs and puppies came from the streets and overcrowded municipal shelters in Dallas, TX, many of whom were at risk of euthanasia. With their arrival we have saved more than 150 new Mutt-i-grees during the first two weeks of December alone.

Three flights of animals were transported by our friends at Society for Companion Animals. Trying to make it in before the east coast would be hit by the first major winter storm of the season, the planes landed safely at LaGuardia Airport as they were welcomed by our Mobile Rescue Team. Upon arrival, the weary travelers were gently loaded onto our climate controlled mobile unit and headed back to the safety of our no-kill campus.

Your support is needed NOW more than ever. Please donate to help change the lives for more homeless animals.

As the dogs and puppies were unloaded by our dedicated team, you could see they were tired and frightened. They didn’t know it yet, but their lives had changed for the better. Once they are settled in and made comfortable they will receive a medical evaluation, and any necessary vaccinations. Then they will be pampered with some TLC by our groomers so they are ready to meet potential adopters.

Before this week ends we are expected to welcome an additional 40 dogs from Rescue the Animals, our partner shelter in Abilene, TX. As well as another 40 dogs, puppies, and kittens from the Georgia Coalition.

Saving lives is what we do best. Since 1944, we’ve rescued more than 1,100,000 animals from around the world. No matter how difficult things get, we will always show up for animals who need us. They count on us for the love, care, and support they deserve. And in turn, we count on supporters like you.
