Mutt-i-grees and Models Strut Their Stuff for a Cause at the Canine Catwalk

In the heart of Manhattan, where style and glamour reign supreme, lies the Fashion District. It’s here, at this time each year that the world’s elite designers and celebrities alike gather for one of the five biggest fashion events in the world; New York Fashion Week!

On Thursday, February 19th, North Shore Animal League America and the athletes of the Hofstra Men’s Soccer team were featured in a benefit runway show with a twist – The 2nd Annual Canine Catwalk presented by Global Visual Group. Our human models were joined by models of the four-legged variety to put on a one-of-a-kind fashion show to benefit Animal League America’s mission to Rescue, Nurture and Adopt all animals in need.

The Animal League America Off-Site Team carefully loaded more than 20 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens onto one of our state-of-the-art Mobile Rescue Units and took the short drive into New York City to add a little fluff to the night’s festivities. Hosting the event was President of Global Visual Group, Ken Stolls, who also happens to be a big supporter of all things Animal League America.

“I love having the opportunity to help support North Shore Animal League with events like Canine Catwalk, but I try to do my part by adopting as well,” said Ken, who adopted one of our Mutt-i-grees earlier in the evening. He and his family left the event over the moon with an adorable kitten who stole their hearts, making this the fourth rescue pet he and his family have adopted from Animal League America.

The night’s events were emceed by hilarious comedienne Lisa Lampanelli, and included special guest, WPIX Weather Anchor, Linda Church.  Linda, a long-time supporter, strutted her stuff on the catwalk donning an Animal League Rescue shirt and carrying the cutest little pup you’ll ever see.

“I would do anything to support North Shore Animal League America because they gave me the best gift of all when I adopted my dog Sam,” said Linda. “I would encourage everybody to adopt a dog if they are able to because they really do make everything about life better.”
