Tails Were Wagging at First Walk & Wag Event

On Sunday, October 1st, North Shore Animal League America held it’s first-ever Walk & Wag event held at the beautiful and dog-friendly North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington, NY.

The event featured nearly 200 excited walkers and their tail wagging companions, all donning Animal League America’s signature blue bandanas in support of our no-kill mission. Thanks to the turn out, we were able to raise almost $30,000, which will support Animal League America’s promise to rescue, nurture, adopt and educate future generations.

Although the walk around the park was the main reason everyone came out, there were many exciting activities throughout the morning, including a canine agility course, a vendor fair, and a Mobile Adoption Unit filled with adoptable Animal League America’s animals, which resulted in seven pets finding responsible, loving homes! We were also excited to have the Town of North Hempstead Town Clerk, Wayne Wink, in attendance to share a few words of encouragement before the walk officially kicked off.

On behalf of the entire organization we’d like to thank our Top Dog sponsor: Allstate, Tail Wagging sponsors; OraVet, Heartgard, Nexgard, Hilton Garden Inn Roslyn, 4 Paws Sponsor; Care Credit, Media Sponsor: K98.3, and Target for sponsoring the Hydration Stations. We’d also like to send a big congratulations to our top three fundraisers for the first-ever Walk & Wag! Congrats to Karen Sussman, Leo Siegelman, and Matthew Bomparola, as well as our top fundraising team; Professional Voice Care Center.
