It's a sad fact, but shelters nationwide have no choice but to make an educated guess when it comes to the age of the dogs in their care. Approximate age in years is possible, but as to the date of birth — their true birthday — it's just not possible. So to give these wonderful dogs their much deserved recognition, North Shore Animal League America has declared the first day of August as DOGust 1st®, the designated birthday for all shelter and rescue dogs — or as we like to call them, Mutt-i-grees.
Celebrate DOGust 1st, the official birthday of all rescue dogs! All Adoptions by Appointment Only If you want to adopt from LA Animal Services, here are the steps to follow: Visit laanimalservices.com/adopt and when you see a pet you want to adopt, call 888-452-7381 with the Animal ID number or A# number (example: A1234567), and we will share all of the information we have regarding the pet with you. If you want to move forward with the paperwork to adopt this animal, we will obtain all information to complete the paperwork for adoption over the phone and schedule a pick-up appointment. During the appointment, staff will be able to show you the selected animal. Due to a City order, we cannot have more than 10 people assembled at one time in our Center, and that includes staff. Please note that appointments will be scheduled after the vetting process over the phone. To comply with social distancing requirements, LA Animal Services will be scheduling appointments daily from 11am to 4pm.
