Can I get in trouble for mom’s dogs not having shelter?

Question

My mom lives with me and I recently got in trouble for my dog not having a dog house. My mom also has 2 dogs outside with no dog house. Can I get in trouble for her dogs not having shelter?

Answer

All of the dogs should have proper shelter and get necessary veterinary care, food, water, and love. Don’t assume you can absolve yourself of responsibility for what happens under your eye in your home (or yard). If you cannot humanely care for all of the dogs in your home/care/possession, you and your mother should make arrangements to rehome the animals. And remember, cruelty, neglect, and abandonment are all against the law. Kindness also goes a long way and it sounds as if these dogs need a lot more of that.
